Scuba diving is a very relaxing sport. I have always been fascinated with the underwater world and it's inhabitants. I have logged hundreds of dives; many in Michigan, including some ice and wreck dives. I have also dove other locations such as Florida, Colorado, California, North Carolina, Canada, Mexico, Aruba, Australia, New Zealand and more. I am planning on doing more diving when I get older so I am still concentrating on the high velocity sports right now.
This picture was taken near the Channel Islands in California in 1997. I went out to visit a couple of friends, Ken and Kim Grayson, in Los Angeles and we ended up going on a dive trip. In fact, Kim gets credit for the photograph. Unfortunately, El Nino was whipping up some storms (sure, blame everything on El Nino) and we couldn't get too close to the islands, but it was still a wonderful trip. My favorite experience that trip was watching the sea lions nimbly whip around the kelp forest. What made it even more fascinating was the fact that several weeks after the trip, I went and saw "Into the Deep" at a 3D I-Max theatre in Chicago. It was filmed in the same area and I recognized most of the creatures in the movie from my trip just a few weeks back.
