Another activity that I have had a few good opportunities to do is horseback riding. I used to know several people that owned their own horses. I was fortunate enough to be able to take many multi-day trips; one especially notable one was during the fall in the upper part of Michigan. It was truly beautiful seeing the fall colors and being out camping in the crisp air. I have ridden many times for day trips in various locations throughout Michigan, Tennessee (pic below), Colorado, as well as other states and countries.
Overall, it's a great way to travel. You can cover a decent amount of ground, and it's certainly much easier than hiking. Horses are quite a bit of work to own; as well as the costs associated with owning them. It's great seeing how each horse has their own personality.
