Monday 3/9:
Joined up with Paul for his Full Moon Ski/Snowshoe. There were only going to be four of us tonight; Paul, Stephanie, Anji and I. Still in Boulder, we discussed the fact that there might not be enough snow since it had been pretty warm, and we hadn't gotten any new snow for a bit. We decided to take our skis anyway, just in case. We drove up to Brainard, and surveyed the situation. The trail was pretty packed down, so we decided to just hike it.
I had never hiked the trail to Left Hand Reservoir before. It was a great night, and a great hike. It was a clear night, so we got plenty of moonlight from the full moon and didn't need headlamps. The temps were a little chilly at around 20, but not too bad. Especially because there was very little wind, all the way until we hit the reservoir. We took a night shot at the reservoir with the four of us and the mountains comprising the Continental Divide behind us.
We then dropped back down a little to get out of the wind and shared snacks and drinks. Even though there was only four of us, there was quite the variety of treats. We then hiked back down to the car, and headed back to Boulder. It was a wonderful night with great company. Didn't take many photos, but I like the one of the mountains lit up by moonlight...
Hope you enjoy the pics!
A.J.
