Friday 1/2:
Life has been crazy lately. Between work and life stuff, the to do list had been a mile long for far too long. I had devoted months of time trying to catch up. (Note that other than Rocky Mountain Rescue, there was only one trip that wasn't family related from the end of September into January. It's now 2/2, and finally is starting to look good. A few more weeks and I should be back to playtime!) Amazing how when you finish one thing, two more seem to pop up; or more commonly, you start on a project that should take a couple hours, and of course, other stuff breaks and it takes days. Okay, enough whining.
Since things had been so crazy, Jen and I were initially planning on going away for New Years. Unfortunately, stuff came up with a rental, and I had to cancel those plans. We still did get to spend some time together; which was nice. This included a day of hiking. I chose to go around Eldorado State park for several reasons. The scenery is spectacular, Jen hadn't been there before, I had previously bought a pass there but hadn't used it much, and several rescues occur there every year and I wasn't very familiar with the park. I have climbed there several times before, but always just went towards a route. This time, we hiked around and I was able to get a good feel for the lay of the land.
It was great to get out and stretch the legs a little. It has been far too long...
Hope you enjoy the pics!
